Starla Biz recently sat down and talked one on one with
DJ Revise about his MURDER
MAINSTREAM T-shirts and got the scoop of how this DJ promotion/fashion/lifestyle label in Honolulu, HI gets down and how you WILL subscribe to this thought!
First off,
DJ Revise & DJ EE's are MURDER MAINSTREAM! The monthly logo's are designed by DOOBS.
STARLA:Hi, Revise. Let's get right to business. How do you keep it F-R-E-S-H & why a monthly logo change to the T-shirts? Is change important to MURDER MAINSTREAM? And this sounds like work to me.
REVISE:Hi, Starla. Thank you for having us. Well, we keep it F-R-E-S-H with what we think is HOT from month to month, As you know, we work with remixes, samples, etc. so this monthly format OR change works best with the DJ's that we are. Limited runs for each design, if you got it, YOU ARE HOT! Yes, change is very important. and it's not work if you believe in what you are doing.
STARLA: Why do you want to MURDER MAINSTREAM?
REVISE:For myself, to use music as metaphor, my soul choice is SIDE B. That means the majority goes to SIDE A and I'm already exploring the artists (musicians) work, in reality as well. My partner, DJ EE's is a producer for the underground Hip Hop scene in Honolulu,
the Direct Descendants. We are polar opposites of the MAINSTREAM.
STARLA:I CAN GET DOWN WITH THAT, so why the fashion side of things , with T-shirt design? Most DJ's I know stay on the music/producer side of things.
REVISE:It's another tool for marketing but it matches our view, a lifestyle, you are DOWN with it or not! ROCK IT!
STARLA:Ok! Why the name?
REVISE:MURDER MAINSTREAM:A way of thinking, dressing, what you listen to, etc...WE ARE AGAINST THE GRAIN!

STARLA:There is a white print on black and a black print on white shirt's available, anymore colors?
REVISE:We will keep it white and black t-shirt's for now BUT September will be Black with Hip Cool Grey print for the J-heads (that's Jordan folks).
STARLA:Cool, when did this all start?
REVISE:In 2008
STARLA:Wow! Three years!
REVISE:MURDER MAINSTREAM the duo (music) promotion event(s) started in 2008. We had events at the LOFT that would bring the Heads. The T-shirts , for sale are a recent thing they have been for sale starting this year.
September will be a packaged deal, in PLASTIC with STICKERS, and a CD of course to those who purchase the LIMITED run. Fashion is about exclusivity that's why this packaged deal. We are here to sell whatever is leftover from our shows cuz they are for sale(T-shirts) at our shows. The rest will be sold on-line, that is coming soon.
We want to outdo what we did last, thats what pushes us forward!
STARLA:I like! What about the girls, any suggestions?
REVISE:Its all guy sizes for now but we have girls as friends who purchase and cut up our T-shirts and make 'em fly.

REVISE: Here to DJ, throw parties, REPRESENT A LIFESTYLE and help you look F-R-E-S-H!
