 A trainspotter that specializes in all kinds of electronic music and a self-proclaimed bass addict. Tara Hite was THE HOSTESS of Honolulu's ONLY truly open turntable night at Anna Banana's. She now wo-mans the decks at KTUH, the MIX AT SIX. Playing neodisco, electro and some electro house 11PM-12:30AM



TIMO!!!

 Taiwan native Timo Lee has been a self-described “music geek” her whole life. From early childhood, Timo has kept her ear to the speaker, fingers tapping to the rhythm. A child of the 90’s, she was weaned on rave culture’s pulsing electronic beats. As the 2000’s progressed, her tastes evolved as she embraced underground disco, indie dance and electronica.
Timo’s first club DJ gig was in early 2009, and she quickly assumed a coveted residency at thirtyninehotel. She spins regularly at the Keep it Uppp monthly and at Go Bang!, thirtyninehotel’s uber- popular First Friday party. She hosts and DJ numerous events in the city of Honolulu.
She also starts her DJ residency at the Waikiki Edition Hotel Lobby Bar in 2010, and become one of the designated DJs for the hotel. Since 2008, Timo has hosted her own show on KTUH 90.3FM Honolulu, specializing in disco, indie rock, electronic music and its antecedent genres.                  Starla Biz recently sat down and talked one on one with DJ Revise about his MURDER
MAINSTREAM T-shirts and got the scoop of how this DJ promotion/fashion/lifestyle label in Honolulu, HI gets down and how you WILL subscribe to this thought!

First off, DJ Revise & DJ EE's are MURDER MAINSTREAM! The monthly logo's are designed by DOOBS.

STARLA:Hi, Revise. Let's get right to business. How do you keep it F-R-E-S-H & why a monthly logo change to the T-shirts? Is change important to MURDER MAINSTREAM? And this sounds like work to me.

REVISE:Hi, Starla. Thank you for having us. Well, we keep it F-R-E-S-H with what we think is HOT from month to month, As you know, we work with remixes, samples, etc. so this monthly format OR change works best with the DJ's that we are. Limited runs for each design, if you got it, YOU ARE HOT! Yes, change is very important. and it's not work if you believe in what you are doing.

STARLA: Why do you want to MURDER MAINSTREAM?

REVISE:For myself, to use music as metaphor, my soul choice is SIDE B. That means the majority goes to SIDE A and I'm already exploring the artists (musicians) work, in reality as well. My partner, DJ EE's is a producer for the underground Hip Hop scene in Honolulu, the Direct Descendants. We are polar opposites of the MAINSTREAM.

STARLA:I CAN GET DOWN WITH THAT, so why the fashion side of things , with T-shirt design? Most DJ's I know stay on the music/producer side of things.

REVISE:It's another tool for marketing but it matches our view, a lifestyle, you are DOWN with it or not! ROCK IT!

STARLA:Ok! Why the name?

REVISE:MURDER  MAINSTREAM:A way of thinking, dressing, what you listen to, etc...WE ARE AGAINST THE GRAIN!

STARLA:There is a white print on black and a black print on white shirt's available, anymore colors?

REVISE:We will keep it white and black t-shirt's for now BUT September will be Black with Hip Cool Grey print for the J-heads (that's Jordan folks).

STARLA:Cool, when did this all start?

REVISE:In 2008

STARLA:Wow! Three years!

REVISE:MURDER MAINSTREAM the duo (music) promotion event(s) started in 2008. We had events at the LOFT that would bring the Heads. The T-shirts , for sale are a recent thing they have been for sale starting this year.
September will be a packaged deal, in PLASTIC with STICKERS, and a CD of course to those who purchase the LIMITED run. Fashion is about exclusivity that's why this packaged deal. We are here to sell whatever is leftover from our shows cuz they are for sale(T-shirts) at our shows. The rest will be sold on-line, that is coming soon.
We want to outdo what we did last, thats what pushes us forward!

STARLA:I like! What about the girls, any suggestions?

REVISE:Its all guy sizes for now but we have girls as friends who purchase and cut up our T-shirts and make 'em fly.

                 Eurotrash-moog me baby! THE Lifestyle Party is presented by the MOOGMaster and the Mistress of Mooging, we wanted to have a good time and promote artists of all kinds. Our next event is Saturday, August 27, 2011 at Lotus Downtown from 9pm to 2am, it has been dubbed for a VIRGO good time! You donʻt need to be a Virgo to enjoy this one. We are featuring FRONT BUSINESS, a live dj set!

FRONT BUSINESS is fronted by Ted DeOliveira. Ted likes to figure out new things sound wise and he has been tinkering with the electronic side of music as well as dabbling in 8-bit sequencing. He is also a track selector and will be filling his live dj set with tracks that match his electronic future soul sound. Ted D. has been a Hawaii resident since the age of six, his parents are both musicians that do music for a living as well as other things. His personal music tastes range from female soul vocals to Mono/Poli to select dub step tracks. In his words Ted is a contrary personality and you can count on crazy antics from him. He can ALSO play the guitar/bass/drums/nintendo, EUROTRASH is happy that he is exploring the electronic side of things. Moog us baby!

FRONT BUSINESS has an album called FRONT BUSINESS 14 tracks that take you off island and put you in an electrodreamydance world. The digital album is available online front business@bandcamp.com and there is cdʻs for sale and can be purchased from the artist himself at EUROTRASH, August 27, 2011.                   This is my favorite image that came out of the Bwareville Photo shoot. Jim D. of D.O.R.K sunglasses & BWare gave the go ahead to shoot ʻem, Yay! This was shot upstairs of 34 N. Hotel Street, which is Lotus Downtown downstairs. I have dubbed this pic, High Stylinʻ! Rhonee R. is the best model I have worked with:Punctual, professional, patient and hardworking, Great job.

O, there was a team behind this, Mick Motor, Photographer. Jimell Silva, Makeup Artist. Hair team, Hawaii Institute of Hair Design Raeden, Jo-Jo, Bri and Devin. Lighting Assistant "Sonny" of NATIVE CREATIVES. Paul Shih of Lotus Downtown let us use the space during business hours, so it was our most quietest shoot to date, haha.
